Figurines Xbox

The figurines xbox is a genre of video game-related collectible toys that interact with the virtual characters in games played on console systems. The phenomenon, which has taken off since the advent of Activision’s Skylanders series of toys and the Nintendo Infinity line, offers gamers a way to extend their gameplay beyond the TV screen, allowing them to create real-life adventures with collectible character figures. It is an industry that is expected to grow, despite overall sales of console video games declining in recent years.

Figurines are typically made of polyethylene or polystyrene and are cast from a mould. Polyethylene is used for the most common figure types, such as those of humans and animals, while polystyrene is more commonly used for action figures or those of fantasy creatures. A common method of casting is injection molding, where the plastic is heated and injected into a steel mould. A high-pressure pump is used to push the plastic into every nook and cranny of the mold, resulting in a very dense and detailed figurine. Injection molding is expensive and not always cost-effective for small runs of figurines, which are typically cast in large numbers.

Gaming figurines are often designed to have exaggerated proportions, such as oversized feet, heads, hands, wrists and weapons. These oversized features started out as concessions to the limitations of early mold-making and sculpting techniques but have now become stylistic conventions. Some designers also use oversized features to convey a sense of heroic scale.

There are a number of different types of figurines, each with its own purpose. Figurines that are designed for display are usually called statues or dolls; those that are manipulated, allowing limbs to be posed, are more often called action figures. Other common types include mannequins and robots, both of which are sometimes used as props in theatrical productions. There is no agreed-upon size limit for figurines, but most are less than two feet high.

In 2007, Microsoft released a limited edition Xbox 360 to coincide with the release of The Simpsons Movie. It is a bright yellow console with Homer peeking out from the front and has the Movie logo on the controller. Only 100 of these were ever made. Another limited edition Xbox was the Hello Kitty Crystal console, which was sold in Singapore to go with the release of the Hello Kitty Roller Rescue video game. It is translucent and has a pink and orange Hello Kitty on top of the system. There were only 550 units produced of this special console. It is a rare collector’s item.
