Toy Biz Resident Evil Figures – Wesker With Hunter, Tyrant and William G4

If you’re a fan of the Resident Evil video game series, then you’ll love these figures. They’re well made, feature cool weapons and accessories and, best of all, are a lot cheaper than the high prices you’d expect for such high quality toys.

Unlike many other figure lines that seem to churn out new figures based on the latest video games every six months, Toy Biz stuck with their line of resident evil figures for a couple of years. The first wave was released in the fall of 2001 and included Leon S. Kennedy, a Soldier Zombie, Nosferatu and Nemesis. The second wave was released in the fall of 2002 and featured Wesker with Hunter, Tyrant and William G4.

This figure is a great example of how Toy Biz could really do a good job on their action figures even if they weren’t exactly the best-looking creatures. The sculpt is a bit stylized, but it captures the character’s look in the video game pretty well. His spiky hair and stern expression are nicely sculpted, as are his outfit and weapons.

The paint work is also very good. Chris has a deep green vest with white sleeves and a cool STARS logo on his left shoulder. The details like the wrinkles and folds in his cloth are very nice, as are the little extra touches like his two belts, a pouch on his back and knee pads. He’s even got a cool little crouching stance that you wouldn’t get from some of the more modern action figures.

As for the monsters, the zombie has a very effective rotting look to it with lots of weathering and some good painted blood splotches. The sculpt on the Tyrant is very nice, too, with lots of great textures and gashes and a claw sculpt that’s just a bit better than the lizard’s.

Toy Biz really hit it out of the park with this set with a really good selection of weapons and accessories. They were able to capture the look of all of the key characters from both games, but they still managed to give each figure its own unique personality and style. They’re definitely some of the coolest figures from this series and they hold up well today, even though it has been more than a decade since their release.

If you’re a resident evil collector, check out these cool figures from Toy Biz’s first wave. They’re still available from a few different toy stores. CornerStoreComics has a single figure for $12, or you can pick up the entire set of four for $45. Amazing Toyz also has a single figure, but they’re sold out on most of the sets right now. I hope these guys sell well, because I’d love to see more of the characters from this series getting some attention. Check out their site for more info. I’m sure there are plenty of other fans out there who would appreciate seeing more figures of these spooky characters.
