WWE Figures – The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

From LJN to Mattel and everything in between, WWE figures have come a long way. But while many of these figures are truly great, there have been some that were pretty awful. Jakks probably has the biggest hit and miss record in this regard, with their Maximum Sweat Series 1 Shawn Michaels being a huge swing and a major miss. The figure hardly looks like Michaels and the fact that it was supposed to replicate sweat only makes matters worse.

During the ’90s, Shawn Michaels elevated to the top of wrestling by having classic match after classic match. One of those classic matches came at WrestleMania 10 when Michaels took on Razor Ramon in the first-ever televised Ladder match. While the Mattel Flashback Shawn Michaels Elite figure does a good job of replicating this look, they should have included red chaps to complete the look.

After being forced to retire in 1998 due to a back injury, Michaels returned to WWE programming sporadically. During this time, he was part of the D-Generation-X stable and helped Triple H dominate the brand. Mattel did a great job of recreating this era with their Elite Series 7 Shawn Michaels, featuring camouflage pants and a DX ring jacket.
